About Lucky Penny


Lucky Penny is a standalone takeout or dine-in restaurant in the heart of Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone, featuring artisanal pizzas from a wood-burning oven, garden fresh salads, house-made hot & cold sandwiches, and house-made baked treats. Lucky Penny proudly serves Vega Coffee. With frozen libations such as Frosé (frozen rosé) and Bellinis as well as locally made artisan popsicles, Lucky Penny has all your favorites. Zagat named Lucky Penny one of the “10 Hottest Restaurants in Santa Barbara.”

Chef Ron Batdorf


Chef Ron Batdorf was born and raised in Springfield Oregon. He attended culinary school at the French Culinary Institute in 2012 in the Bay Area. After moving to Santa Barbara in 2016, Chef Batdorf worked at Lucky Penny’s sister property, The Lark, before being offered the head chef position. Chef Batdorf feels working at Lucky Penny is special because of the value placed in the staff, creating a strong culture of teamwork and hospitality.
